We are delighted that you have chosen to join our community today, especially if you are joining us for the first time. For those who have come as a family with young children, Kids’ Club meets during the service in the Parish Hall. St John’s, like the Hyde Park Estate, wants to be part of a dog-friendly community. We welcome people to bring their dogs with them to church but we ask that they are mindful of the need for dogs not to disturb others at worship. If your furry friend begins to bark or to feel uncomfortable, please do feel free to take him or her for a walk outside.
Children and Young Families
We are pleased to have families with children as members of our congregation. Kids’ Club meets this morning in the hall with Red Balloon – the children go out after the Collect and re-join their families in time for communion. Toilets with changing facilities are available near the entrance of the church.
Giggles and Gossip
Thursdays, 9.30-11am
Giggles & Gossip, a playgroup for parents with babies and toddlers, meets on Thursday mornings. There will be soft play available and the club will also consist of crafts and a story time for the parents and children to take part in.

Events coming up to mark this significant milestone in our national life:
Coronation Drinks
We will be having a drinks party in church on Thursday, 4th May, at 7pm for our church family as well as for our neighbours and members of our local estate associations. The date to RSVP was this past Thursday but if you missed it for some reason, please contact the office to see if there are spaces available.
Coronation Sunday
We will have a special service to mark the Coronation on Sunday, 7th May, at 10am. The setting will be Mozart’s Coronation Mass. The service will be followed by a sit-down lunch. There will be opportunities to help – keep your eyes peeled! Invitations have gone out electronically this past week. Please be sure to reply to guarantee your place – and no later than Tuesday, 2nd May!
Invitation from the West London Synagogue
Our neighbours across the Edgware Road have invited St John’s members to join them for a Coronation Shabat service on Saturday, 6th May, at 9.15am. They will have a shorter service than usual, followed by a special street party kiddush with the Coronation shown on a big screen. Sung Eucharist for Ascension, 18th May, 6pm
The Ascension, coming 40 days after Christ’s resurrection, is the culmination of Easter, the season in which we celebrate the stories of the risen Christ. This year Ascension falls on Thursday 18th May and we will celebrate it with a choral eucharist at 6pm. The choir will sing Haydn’s Missa Brevis Sancti Joannis de Deo mass setting and the anthem will be Rutter’s I Am with You Always.
Whitsun Carols, 21st May
A unique musical service at 6pm concluding our annual cycle of carol services which tell the events of the Christian year. At Whitsun Carols we commemorate the events from Easter to Pentecost, with readings and musical selections from the choir and guest musicians. The service will feature music by Mascagni, Anderson-Lopez, Gounod, Rutter and John Williams. A seasonal reception of Pimms and cucumber sandwiches will follow.
