Perhaps you've had a baby and are looking to get them baptised, or maybe you are an adult and are thinking about being baptised yourself; whichever it is, St John's is looking forward to making your baptism a special day.
A Baptism (also called a Christening) is a sacrament and a sign of our belonging to God’s church and a milestone in all of our lives. It is a wonderful occasion of celebration and we want your whole family to enjoy it. We always celebrate Baptisms at the 10.00am Parish Eucharist as the sacrament is about entering into our community and we want to publicly welcome you into the faith. If you speak to one of the clergy after the service they’ll be more than happy to guide you through the simple process, arranging a date and talking about the service. As they are a celebration both for your family and the community, some families like to arrange flowers, a reception after the service in the aisle, or special music for the occasion.
To arrange a baptism, ask to speak to a member of the clergy after the service. We will go through your details and take a provisional booking. Please consider what dates you would like before coming, but it will depend on what other events are taking place in church.
