PCC Ethos Statement

St John’s Hyde Park is an inclusive, dynamic community of faith, rooted in a
broad Anglican tradition.

We are proud to be a diverse, friendly community, offering an unconditional welcome to everyone. We are committed to living by our Christian values through this sense of openness and a genuine engagement with our neighbours, both on our doorstep and across the capital.

We are determined that St John’s should adapt and evolve continuously to become even more of a spiritual, physical and social hub for the local community. We strive to set ambitious targets so that our church can fulfil its potential as a powerful agent for change.

THEOLOGICAL FRAMEWORK

Drawn together through our relationship with Jesus, we are a diverse local, city-wide and global community bonded together in love. Called to follow him, we seek to love God and our neighbour, encouraging one another in our faith and the gifts of the Spirit with which we have each been blessed, in order that we might live life in its abundance.

We strive to follow in the footsteps of Jesus and his disciples, continuing his mission and ministry by welcoming others, regardless of their gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, socio-economic circumstances or spiritual background, into a deeper transformative relationship with our Lord and Saviour. Whether through excellent entrepreneurial liturgy, prayer, teaching, music or hospitality, it is our desire to create a place that supports and nurtures our relationships with the Lord and one another.

In all we do, our aim is to foster growth through sustainable and innovative liturgy, music, prayer, children’s ministry, education, discipleship, pastoral care and fellowship at its heart.

Blessed with the inheritance of an historic building at the centre of the Hyde Park Estate, we are dedicated to its restoration and maintenance in order that we might pass it on to the next generation as a holy place for worship and service to the wider community.
