St John's Hyde Park is an active part of its local community in W2 - a hugely diverse part of central London. As the parish church in this place we are there to serve all those, regardless of whether they come to church. We have good relations with the Hyde Park Estate Association, the residents association, and also work closely with local businesses as well as the local council.
St James and St John is a local Church of England Primary School which St John's shares responsibility for with the neighbouring St James', Sussex Gardens. The school community is a microcosm of the multicultural society benefiting from the diversity of faiths and backgrounds.
Since 2013, as part of the local community, St John's has been involved in this innovative approach to raising money for international, national and local charities. The aim is to share what we have joyfully and since starting Reckless Giving has raised more than £35,000 pounds for charity.
Stay and Play
A community playgroup meets weekly in St John’s on Thursday mornings from 9.30-11.30am. Come and stay for a play, a sing-song and to share stories over a cup of coffee. All children and babies are welcome (newborn to 5 years). Suggested donation £2.
