NOTICES 15 JANUARY 2023

Children and Young Families

We are delighted to have families with children as members of our congregation.  Kids’ Club meets this morning in the hall with Red Balloon – the children go out after the Procession to the Crib and re-join their families in time for communion.  Toilets with changing facilities are available near the entrance of the church.

Hearing the Service

St John’s has an Induction Loop System so if you have a hearing aid, please switch it to the ’T’ setting.

Morning Music Series

The Period of Cosmography

From January through to the start of Lent, our music will explore themes of stars and light to reflect the hope and joy of Epiphany and Candlemas.  The title of this series, The Period of Cosmography, is taken from this week’s anthem by Thomas Weelkes, an adventurous madrigal published in 1600. The anthem discusses the strange and dramatic wonders of the world, all of which are reflected in the music.

We are pleased to welcome back tenor Kieran White, choral scholar here in 2016 & 2017, to give a prom concert after the morning service.  He is performing works by Monteverdi, Cavalli and Carissimi with the Ensemble OrQuesta conducted by Marcio Da Silva.  Kieran has had a very successful career in the UK and Europe, singing with the Monteverdi Choir, Amsterdam Baroque, Netherlands and Edvard Grieg Kor, Norway.  He has just finished singing the title role of Castor in Castor & Pollux with the Warsaw Chamber Opera.  He has been very successful at International singing competitions and will be singing the title role in the opera Céphale et Procis at the Cockpit Theatre in February.
