Paint Pots Montessori Nursery

Paint Pots Hyde Park Montessori Nursery is based in St John's Church Hall.  A child's first nursery school is an important stepping stone. Paint Pots' aim is to make this step as happy and as rewarding an experience as possible, helping each child to develop confidence, self-esteem, independence, concentration, social skills and self-discipline.

The Paint Pots Way of Life

When a child begins at Paint Pots, their activities are based around practical life skills, which assist their growing independence, together with hand-eye co-ordination - learning through doing.  The child builds upon these skills as they discover and explore the world around them. This happens at each child's own pace and this preparatory work is vital as it provides the foundations for the subsequent formal learning, with the child progressing towards literacy and numeracy.

Children are given the time and space to complete their chosen task without fear of interruption.  Staff are always on hand to introduce new activities and offer encouragement when needed.  We take time to listen to the children, allowing us to develop activities that meet their individual needs.  In this way every child's potential is nurtured and valued.

First and foremost,

NURSERY SCHOOL SHOULD BE FUN!

This is our main priority in everything we do.

Georgina Hood, founder and Principal, started Paint Pots Bayswater in 1988 and the Paint Pots Creative Classes, now at The Boltons, started in that same year.  Paint Pots Chelsea opened in 1996, followed by Paint Pots Hyde Park, in 2004.

Georgina is Chair of the Montessori Schools Association London region and was Montessorian of the year 2005.

Paint Pots follows the Montessori philosophy of education which recognises the importance of the early years in forming a child's character and talents for later life.

Freedom is at the heart of the Montessori philosophy and our carefully prepared and spacious open plan classroom (supplemented by a large, safe outdoor play area) provides a relaxed but stimulating atmosphere in which the children are free to choose from a comprehensive range of activities.  This freedom is designed to build on the child's natural desire to explore, investigate and understand their own environment.  Each child learns at his/her own pace, absorbing new information and concepts naturally.
