Sunday Evening 6.30 pm
ImageAt 6.30 pm on Sunday evenings we have an informal Evening Service. We are a small group of explorers of the faith. The Evening Service community is made up of a very diverse group of people from across London.

It is really an ideal advert for any church—our membership consists of students, a young mum, some young professionals and people in alternative lifestyles. Sometimes members have not been welcome elsewhere—but at St John's we've found that everybody can have a home.

ImageWhen we come together on a Sunday evening we often gather in "The Round". We gather in a circle around the altar or in the sanctuary. We sing, read and discuss scripture, and pray for each other and the world.

As an alternative worship group we try to be creative in our worship. This means that sometimes we'll create workshops as part of the service. On the first Sunday of each month we celebrate the Eucharist together in an informal, open way.

ImageThe Evening Service group is open to new ideas and we are willing to experiment with worship styles. So if you think the formality of church is too much for you, we might be just what you're looking for.

As a group we're holding our future before God. And we believe that the future God gives us will be reflected in our membership. So if your searching for something a bit different why don't you come and join us?

ImageIn recent months we have used:
  • Taize music
  • Flute & Piano led Worship
  • Monastic Vespers
  • Poetry workshops with a performing poet and bard
  • Praise Services
  • Worship through reflection on sacred music
  • Experimental exercises in worship
  • Patterns for worship

In particular, if you're a musician, a singer or worship leader or if you have an interest in alternative worship styles and methods then come along at 6.30pm and try us out.

Come and be part of us. Find out what God is doing in your life. Bring your ideas, and see what we can do with them!
