The most important part of the week at St John's is our parish Eucharist at 10am on Sunday mornings.
It's then we meet together before God to proclaim and celebrate his love for us. Every week we have a sung communion service as the main focus of our worship.
We are proud of the diverse nature of our community at St John's. We welcome people from all sorts of backgrounds and ages. Many of our members live in the parish, but we also welcome people from all over London who come to St John's because of what we offer and the community we have. Our community is made up of people from many nations—both European and from further afield.
Our choir is unique in central London, in that it is made up of both scholars and volunteers. The choir lead the music in our worship every Sunday morning. We put a high value on singing together at St John's and most weeks we sing lively congregational settings of the service. About once a month, though, we have a full sung Eucharist with a choral setting, and on major festivals we sometimes have orchestral accompaniment!

We have an excellent Children's Church—called the Saint John's Kid's Club—that meets in our hall during most of the service. Kid's Club is a wonderfully messy and fun environment where children are gently encouraged to explore the concept of spirituality on their own level through play, stories, crafts and games. In age range we go from just a few months to mid-teens in different groups. All visiting children (and one or more parents!) are welcome to join in with SJKC.
After the service we have coffee and biscuits, or—as often as we can find an excuse—drinks and savouries. At St John’s we think it’s important to remember how important thesharing of hospitality is. That’s partly because it’s good fun, but also because it’s how we grow in love for one another as well as how we show God’s love in the world. |
